“All of us are facing unique and unforeseen challenges; working from home, balancing work and home life, home teaching and coping with personal and family issues - all while continuing to contribute to our businesses - are all very much a part of the world we now live in. There will be many, many stories of how the women in the insurance and legal market have risen to these challenges and we are proud Claire’s has been recognised here.”
Despite a year of fundamental change to the way every organisation operates, Horwich Farrelly continues to rack up the award wins after Large Loss partner and mum of three, Claire Fox, won the Most Inspiring Returner prize at the prestigious Women in Insurance Awards.
With trophies already bagged for both the quality of our investigations into insurance fraud and our Corporate Social Responsibility programme – as well as a host of shortlisted entries on everything from our training academies to technology we have developed to combat credit hire fraud – this award recognises our commitment to ensuring women are able to make a successful return to work after having children.
The award specifically recognises those who returned to work in 2019 or 2020 and who have acted as a role model to women looking to achieve the balance between work and family life.
On being announced as the winner in a special online ceremony last week, Claire said: “It really was a lovely surprise to win what was a highly competitive category – with two other women also being Highly Commended – and I am extremely grateful to the judges for highlighting my own story.
“I am humbled by the recognition and hope that by receiving this award I can provide some inspiration to others also returning to work, both at Horwich Farrelly and beyond.
“Coming back from maternity leave has many challenges that all mums are more than aware of; from juggling childcare to concerns about how your return will go after sometimes significant time away from the office, but Horwich Farrelly couldn’t have been more supportive.
“To say my time away from the world of work during my maternity leave, having taken two periods of absence within two years, was one of significant change – both for me and HF – would be an understatement; my priorities and commitments were very different with three young babies and the firm had grown significantly, as had the total number of clients and services offered. Significantly however, the values and ethos of the firm – one that, as my own experience showed, backed you regardless of your background – had been reinforced. They made my transition back into work so much easier.”
Speaking on Claire’s win, Horwich Farrelly Managing Partner, Ronan McCann, said: “Claire’s win here, in such an important award, is testament to not only her own commitment and dedication – to her family and her work – but also to the steps we have taken to ensure all our staff are valued and recognised for the hard work they do for us in these extraordinary times.
“All of us are facing unique and unforeseen challenges; working from home, balancing work and home life, home teaching and coping with personal and family issues – all while continuing to contribute to our businesses – are all very much a part of the world we now live in. There will be many, many stories of how the women in the insurance and legal market have risen to these challenges and we are proud Claire’s has been recognised here.”
