Horwich Farrelly awards eight training contracts

April, 11, 2018

Horwich Farrelly continues to nurture home grown talent after awarding training contracts to eight employees, all of whom are based at the firm’s Manchester headquarters.

The firm is one of the only practices operating in the defendant insurance sector to exclusively offer training contracts to existing employees. As applicants will have benefited from experience managing a caseload and taking matters to court, the training programme is fast-tracked to 18 months rather than the standard two year period.

The eight trainee solicitors represent a broad range of specialist services offered to insurers by Horwich Farrelly. They are:

  • Costs: Sherifa Yasmin
  • Counter Fraud: Hannah Hodge, Georgina O’Brien & Sandra Borys
  • Motor & Casualty: Saba Naz
  • Recoveries: Madiah Shah, Jon Eaton & James Forde

Ronan McCann, Partner, said “We firmly recognise that our greatest asset is our people which is why we’re immensely proud of our various policies to support career progression, such as our award-winning approach to talent management.

“We’re delighted to be awarding training contracts to so many of our existing employees, in particular to Hannah and Georgina who joined Horwich Farrelly last year having been accepted on to our first ever Vacation Schemes. To see individuals accelerating their legal careers in this way reflects our commitment to investing in talent and ensuring we continue to retain the expertise required to meet the demands of a growing client base.”

The eight will begin their contracts on 23 April, with a further round of conditional contracts awarded to start in the autumn.

Today’s announcement comes a week after the firm revealed six former trainees had accepted full-time contracts in Horwich Farrelly’s Manchester and Liverpool offices.
