Horwich Farrelly has announced it has increased the number of spaces available on its summer Vacation Scheme from ten to 16, and expanded the initiative to include the firm’s Defendant teams.
The two-week paid initiative – double the length of programmes offered by most other law firms – is designed to provide legal graduates with practical experience of life as a Trainee Solicitor.
Horwich Farrelly hopes to build on the success of its Easter Vacation Scheme where 70% of students were offered full time roles, including Holly Golding (pictured left)
Running from 3-14 July 2017, those accepted on to the placement will be provided with their own personal training buddy to provide support and guidance.
As well as spending significant time shadowing experienced lawyers in our Counter Fraud and Defendant teams, students will also participate in a variety of vocational activities such as a mock trial, visiting court and being able to grill the firm’s Partners about their careers and legal experience.
Professional development sessions will also take place looking at CV building, interview technique and how to get the most out of LinkedIn. The placement will culminate with an evening social event.
Rob Barrett, Managing Partner, said “Our Easter Vacation Scheme – our first ever – highlighted the level of interest from legal students wanting to gain first-hand experience of a thriving practice. By increasing the number of spaces by 60% and expanding the programme to incorporate our highly successful Defendant teams we hope that we can provide additional opportunities for the next generation of legal professionals”.
The closing date for applications is Monday 12 June 2017. For full details of eligibility criteria and how to apply please click here.
