Telematics, autonomous driving and medical innovation will all be debated at the third annual Horwich Farrelly Large & Complex Injury Conference – ‘To Infinity and Beyond’ – taking place in London this April.
Bringing together more than 140 industry professionals from almost 60 organisations, as well as experts in telematics, autonomous vehicles, PI and spinal injury, the conference is set to provide a platform for debate on how new motoring and medical innovation is likely to impact and affect high value PI claims.
Horwich Farrelly’s Head of Large & Complex Injury, Malcolm Henké
“This year’s conference is set to give insurance industry professionals a vision of the future”, explained Malcolm Henké, Partner and Head of Horwich Farrelly’s Large & Complex Injury Group, who will open the conference. “With a clear focus on how new innovation – in both motoring and medicine – will impact the large loss landscape, we have a strong panel of speakers, including well-known experts and counsel, together with members of Horwich Farrelly’s market leading Large & Complex Injury team.”
Professor David Last, Consultant Engineer and Expert Witness, especially in forensic matters concerning GPS, will look at how telematics insight can assist with liability in large and complex claims. Consultant neurologist and medico-legal expert, Dr Oliver Cockerell, will uncover the difficulties in assessing the true impact of brain injuries. Dr Ali Jamous, consultant surgeon in spinal injuries, will look into developments in spinal injury cases and what they mean for insurers in the future. And Iwan Parry, Head of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles at the Transport Research Laboratory, is set to focus on assessment of damages, current cost issues and the latest insights into automated vehicle technology, testing and regulation.
The legal landscape – what is happening in the courts and what may happen next – will be examined by Andrew Lewis QC. And Horwich Farrelly experts, including Simon Curtis, Raouf Achour and Nicola Critchley will provide food for thought on issues ranging from personal injury pre-action protocols and whether inflationary trends can be brought under control in the assessment of damages, to current costs challenges.
Attendees at the 2017 conference
“Our 2017 Large and Complex Injury Conference was a resounding success, and with the calibre of this year’s speakers it’s not surprising that spaces filled up faster than ever before”, added Malcolm Henke.
“Large and Complex Loss is a hugely influential area, which is rapidly evolving and facing a growing number of challenges along the way. This year’s conference will provide valuable market insights to help insurers, brokers and industry professionals take a productive approach to large loss claims.”
The Large & Complex Injury Conference takes place on Thursday 26 April 2018 at the Wellcome Collection, London. The event is currently fully booked, however, anyone wishing to be added to the waitlist should contact email@example.com.
